FAQ

WHAT IF I NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?

With the generous donations from our church family, we are able to provide some financial aid for MIX. Recipients are expected to pay for a portion of camp. In extremely rare financial situations we do consider covering the entire cost of MIX.

WHO ARE THE ADULTS THAT WILL BE WITH OUR STUDENTS?

Every one of our leaders has passed a background check in order to serve on our team. Not only that, every adult at MIX must successfully complete an approved Abuse Awareness Training Module. We are still finalizing our Dream Team as they negotiate a week off from work. Are you interested in coming with us for the week? Email ken@thechapel.family for more information.

HOW WILL TRANSPORTATION BE HANDLED?

We will be traveling in two passenger vans and one people mover. There will be two (2) small group leaders in each passenger van. Each driver will be at least 25 years old. In order to maintain safety and security, there will be no switching vehicles. We will stop for meals and to use the restroom.

WILL STUDENTS BE WITH THEIR FRIENDS?

YES! We want students to have an amazing week! So during the drive, when we go out to eat, while we are at MIX, and even when we sleep, students will be hanging out having fun and making memories with their friends.

WHAT ABOUT RULES, DRESS CODE, PACKING LIST, ETC?

All of those things can be found HERE. One thing not included on the packing list is a razor-type scooter. Many students bring these to zip around the campus. Totally not necessary, but it is fun! :^)  Also, no need for a fan since the rooms have AC!

PLEASE PRINT OUT, SIGN, AND BRING THIS FORM ON THE DAY WE LEAVE.

Indiana Wesleyan requires parents to sign THIS waiver in order for students to use the recreational facilities. Please print it out, sign it, and bring it with you when we leave on Monday. We will collect the forms as you check in your student Monday morning.

HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD YOU SEND?

They need money for two (2) fast-food meals on Monday and Friday. I recommend $10-15. Whatever amount you send with your middle schooler, they will be happy to spend. :^) There will be books, Bibles, CD's, shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, and all sorts of fun and cool souvenirs they will want to buy. We do not hold money for students.

WHICH CAMPUS ARE WE LEAVING FROM AND WHEN DO WE NEED TO BE THERE?

Students who wish to leave from the Norwalk campus need to be at the Norwalk campus @ 8 AM. Everyone else needs to meet at the Sandusky campus @ 9 AM.

WHO DOES YOUR MIDDLE SCHOOLER WANT TO ROOM WITH?

As long as we don't have to worry about whether they will stay up all night, we want students to room with their buddies. Email ken@thechapel.tv  with who they want to room with and I'll do everything I can to make it happen. :^)

WHAT ABOUT CELL PHONES?

As a parent of four, I love the convenience of being able to contact my kid and them being able to contact me. I use my cell phone all the time. It’s my e-reader, camera, mp3 player, note taker, map, movie, and gaming device. AND it can even work as a telephone too!

Our students are allowed to bring a phone as long as we don’t have to worry about them becoming a distraction or being used inappropriately (i.e. when they are supposed to be sleeping, inappropriate messaging, photos, etc.) If we feel like it is a distraction or is not being used appropriately, we will confiscate them until we return. We will say more about this before we leave. We are not responsible for loss, theft, breakage, etc.

WHAT IF MY MIDDLE SCHOOLER HAS SPECIALIZED NEEDS?

If your child has meds that need to be taken, gets car sick easily, has an unusually small bladder, is dealing with some personal issues, has specialized needs, is having their birthday while we are gone, or is planning to run for President in 2056, PLEASE email ken@thechapel.family ASAP so we can plan appropriately!

WHAT IF I STILL HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

That’s GREAT! If you are wondering it, chances are there are other parents asking the same thing! Please call Ken @ 419-627-0208 x 110 or email ken@thechapel.family.
