K-5 Chapel Kids Lead - Norwalk Campus    

This person is responsible for the oversight, development, care and leadership of the Chapel Kids - K-5 ministry, teams and volunteers at the Norwalk Campus.

Job Type: Part-time (25 hours/week)

Denomination: Non-Denominational

Church-Size: 2,500-3,000 (3 Campuses)

Campus: Norwalk

This role requires mainly interpersonal relationship skills. Any candidate needs to be passionate about Jesus, self-motivated, spiritually, and emotionally mature, have good communication skills (oral & written) and good computer skills. Previous kids’ ministry experience (on staff or volunteer) required.  Must be able to inspire, motivate, and organize people, as well as work closely with the Chapel Kids Team to facilitate, implement and replicate the vision, values, policies and details at the Norwalk Campus.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for vision casting and recruitment of volunteers for K-5 at the Norwalk Campus
    (incl. first serves, placement, training, etc.).

  • Develop, lead, care, maintain relationships, encourage all K-5 volunteers and non-paid staff in Norwalk

  • (including coffee meetings, appreciation gifts, birthday cards, weekly encouragement).

  • Create and maintain all ministry schedules to ensure each room/stations are staffed

  • appropriately each week.

  • Identify (if needed) and develop high-capacity leaders to own and care for their ministry teams/volunteers:

    • Lead teams: Greeting team, service leaders, hallway leaders.

    • Volunteer teams: Chapel Pre-Teen, JAM, etc.

  • Maintain supplies to ensure all K-5 rooms are stocked.

  • Coordinate with tech arts coordinator to ensure media shout and services are ready.

  • Lead or empower a volunteer to lead the weekly VIP (Vision, Information, Prayer) meeting with K-5 volunteers before each service.

  • Prep and teach kids baptism class and assist in organizing child dedications.

  • Recruit, follow up, schedule and communicate with volunteers for summer, holidays and special events in Norwalk.

  • Participate in the development and execution of effective children’s ministry policies and guidelines; record keeping, child protection, application, text-in systems, registration cards, capturing new family information, cleaning protocols/checklists, pre-service registration, background checks, name and security tags.

  • Organize and report all ministry purchase receipts for accounting purposes.

  • Participate in Chapel Kids and family ministry meetings.

  • Responsible for creating “Orange Moments” for families at every opportunity; looking for ways to enhance and support the parents influence at home and communicating regularly with other Family Ministry groups for seamless transitions through the phases.

Church-wide Functions:

  • Take the lead to write (review Orange materials, select and share age-appropriate curriculum and supply list with other K-5 campus leads/CK central service lead) 2-3 grade and K-3 large group.

  • Lead volunteer training and development for Chapel Kids across campuses.

  • Champion JAM ministry and encourage teams across all campuses.

  • Take leads for baptism classes for all three campuses.

 

Expectations:

  • Passionate about Jesus and helping kids to grow closer to Him. Live out Chapel mission and values.

  • Lead and be present during most weekend services. This role is expected to work all weekends except for
    up to 9 weekends a year using PTO, ensuring adequate coverage and being pre-approved by supervisor.

  • Flexible and available during off-hours to assist volunteers with questions or prayer needs.

  • Attendance at monthly all staff breakfast mandatory. Attendance during all staff lunch is not required, but always welcome. (please make sure that at least one Chapel Kids member is there to communicate updates)

  • Responsibilities may vary due to COVID-19 and different ministry needs.

Student Ministries Worship Intern - Sandusky Campus

Responsible for informing and encouraging a culture of worship within The Chapel’s Student Ministries, with guidance from the Sandusky Worship Lead. This includes planning and leading worship elements for Student Ministry services and events, overseeing and nurturing a team of worship volunteers, and investing in one’s own continued personal growth with regards to musical ability and spiritual discipline.

Job Type: Intern (10-15 hours/week)

Denomination: Non-Denominational

Church-Size: 2,500-3,000 (3 Campuses)

Campus: Sandusky

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Recruit and develop volunteers to serve within the Student Ministry worship team at Sandusky Campus.

    • Schedule and lead auditions with prospective Student Ministry worship team members.

    • Schedule Student Ministry worship volunteers for middle school (CMS) and high school (CHS) services.

    • Encourage and invest in worship team volunteers on a personal level. Be available and accessible.

    • Invest in volunteers by developing their skills and empowering them to take on more leadership within the worship ministry.

  • Participate in CMS and CHS service planning.

    • Gather vision from CMS/CHS lead for upcoming service. Create a worship set that fits within the allotted time, utilizes songs from the ministry song list, and that offers a comprehensive picture of the Gospel. 

    • Update Planning Center service plans to ensure they are detailed and accurate. 

  • Lead and organize rehearsals, run-throughs, and worship sets for Student Ministry weekend services and other Chapel services or events as needed.

    • Prepare a devotional element for the “green room” experience.

  • Invest in an all-age, all-church worship culture.

    • Work with Sandusky Worship Lead to include CMS and CHS students in adult services as their skill allows, preferably twice a year.

    • Work with Campus Worship Leads and Chapel Kids/Student Ministry representatives to develop a catalog of worship songs for each age group (Chapel Kids, CMS, CHS, adult ministry.)

  • Grow in musical knowledge and ability; stay relevant.

  • Attend monthly Connection Meeting with Worship/Tech Staff.

  • Participate in monthly one-on-one with Sandusky Worship Lead.

 

Expectations:

  • Passionate about Jesus and helping students to grow closer to Him. Live out Chapel mission and values.

  • Depending on availability, this internship could be short or long term. The Internship is designed to train and develop any candidate for future ministry involvement. This internship does not guarantee a paid position afterwards.

  • Expected to work almost all weekends (unless pre-approved by supervisor).

  • Attendance at Chapel staff meetings is not required, but always welcome.
